What would you do if doctors declared you only had twelve months to live? What is the measure of a man who defies that disheartening declaration for over ten years without remission? In "Our Journey of Hope" I share our story of how my husband kept fighting cancer and living life. He dealt with many surgeries and setbacks but continued to move forward with courage, optimism, and faith. The epilogue shares personal lessons learned from our immediate family, including Ford, myself, our children, their spouses, and our older grandchildren. Twenty people personally connected to Ford's battle with cancer express their feelings and faith about Ford, family, and God's plan for us all.

Such an inspiring story

I couldn't put this book down. It was such an inspiration to me to see the faith and perseverance in spite of terrible struggles. Knowing Ford and Dianne personally, I now have even greater admiration for both of them after reading the details of their personal struggles. That is information they would rarely share in person because I always saw the generous, optimistic spirit they radiated to everyone around them. Thanks so much! I love you both.

I love this book!

This amazing book tells the story of Ford Reeder's battle with cancer and the faith, perserverence, and courage of Ford and Dianne as the face the daunting battle one day at a time with absolute trust in God. These are two of my favorite friends ever, and I cannot adequately describe how much their example and love inspires me. I would highly recommend this book! It is a moving, poignant account of Ford's eleven-year battle with cancer after doctors gave him only one year to live.

you guys rock

Ford and Dianne

Heidi bought a copy of the book and sat down to read it got distracted and set it down. I grabbed it and finished reading it in 2 hours I could not put it down. I know you guys have been thru IT with dignity and class. What an example of love, patients, long suffering and faith. I meant to come over before I left town for two months to tell you all you are an inspiration and we love you and sometimes your kids are ok too. Jeffrey gets married today and my thots are with you all on this great day. May you be blessed with the peace of the spirit in this time.

my heros

I have read Our Journey of Hope and Ford and Dianne are definetely heros. Their courage, faith, and strength are inspiring. I know they were faced with this challenge and are fighting it together. When I read at the end the lessons what their children and grandchildren have learned from their experence and examples, it sounds crazy, but it makes it worth it. I think I would give my all for my children and grandchildren to have such lessons learned and some at such a young age. These are faith experinces that will carry them through many trials of their own. What a leagacy their parents have given them. Thank you Dianne for sharing this hard and intimate part of your lives with us. We have shed some tears and prayers for you along your journey also.

I would highly recommend this

I would highly recommend this book to everyone! I personally know this family and they are such wonderful people who have taken such an amazing journey of hope and love, as Ford has been fighting for his life for so very long.
I could not put the book down once I started it and when I had finished, I went back and read it aloud to my husband as he worked. We laughed, we cried, and we grew from the things we learned from their experiences. If you want to know what love and hope really are, grab a tissue and take a Journey of Hope with this family. You will be glad you did.

Don't give up!

I Loved this book, Ford and Dianne are amazing people. This is a must read for everyone. My daughter and son-in-law are reading it now. The overall message is don't ever give up.

What An Example!

What a wonderful book to share with the world! Ford has always been the perfect example of love, compassion, and perseverance, and always with such an optimistic outlook. We love Ford and know that we are better people because of his great example. Your whole family---always so accepting and never judging---sometimes I am confused why the biggest trials come to the best people. Thank you for being an example to us and our families. We only hope we can pass on some of your legacy with our family and others.

Love one of your many adopted daughters :)

Thank you for sharing your story

Several years ago I saw Ford shortly after he had received news of a set back in his battle against cancer. The courage and optimism he showed that day was amazing and is something I will never forget. After reading this book and realizing all he was actually going through I am even more inspired by Ford and Dianne’s example. Thank you for sharing it with us.
